D'Banj Joins G.O.O.D. Music

& It all started with a tweet ...

Congrats to the Nigerian superstar D'Banj for signing with Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music ! When I first saw this tweet I was ecstatic at the prospect of a collab between the two. Little did I know that they would soon join forces on a much larger scale. Wednesday, June 8th D'Banj confirmed through his twitter account that he had joined the G.O.O.D. music roster; what a fitting birthday gift for both him & Mr. West.

I love Kanye, I love Nigerian music, this is beyond amazing to me. I'm so excited about how this will hopefully bring Nigerian/African music to the main stream market. I can not WAIT to here what D'banj & Kanye have in store.

Wale x Tiara Thomas x The Cloud

When Wale posted the link for More About Nothing last summer, I was its #1 fan, instantly. It was the only thing I listened to for weeks (it made great studying music for my summer classes). I would honestly listen to the whole thing nonstop, however #19 The Cloud always stuck out to me as a favorite. I don't even smoke, that's how you know its bomb! lol. When he tweeted that he was finally dropping the video for it, I was low key hype! I generally love all things Wale, particularly his videos (cc: The Breakup Song, Family Affair).

HOWEVER - I was not too impressed by this one. Maybe I was expecting too much. I mean surprisingly, Wale looked kinda nice - with his hair pulled back, dope jersey & (newly?) toned arms lol. The song, accented by Tiara's amazing voice, is definitely an A. The video though? ehhh, B-/C+ at best.

But, that's just me, take a look for yourself:

Rolling in the Deep x (Jamie xx) Remix

The stunning and soulful Adele did not disappoint with her second album, 21. Her first single Rolling in the Deep is an exciting and chilling mix of blues and disco, powered by her emotionally chilling voice. The song is already amazing, but when I came across the Jamie xx shuffle remix I was blown away! The added deep tribal beats are so infectious, it's hard to listen to it just once.
I want my summer to sound like this! lol

Willow Smith - Whip My Hair Video

Bravo! As if the song was catchy enough the video just boosted it up a level. The concept is dope -- not too young, not too old, just right. And her smile at the end is absolutely adorable

Thumbs up for Willow.
I whip my hurrrr back & forth!

Fab x Miguel x DJ Kast One x MSU Homecoming

Let me start off by saying I've missed the blogger world so much! lol. I've been tied up with school, tests, MCAT studies, and just life as I know it :( The sooner I learn to utilize my time instead of wasting it, I'll be able to blog as much as my little chocolate heart desires! lol

This past weekend was Homecoming at MSU, and I'm probably right when I say it was the best one yet! Even after the Nicki Minaj scam (a fake booking agency scammed us out of $35k -__-) we were able to bounce back and have DJ Kast One, Miguel, and Fabolous perform for our concert.

First up was Miguel, and he seemed like a really sweet and down to earth individual. From his harem pants to his exotic features to his beautiful voice, Miguel was a treat! I will definitely be on the lookout for his upcoming projects.

The main event, Fab was by far the best thing that has happened to MSU in a while! His performance was the perfect medley of his songs: throwbacks, remixes, and current hits, he did it all! What I loved the most is that he did it for the LADIESSS! He performed all my favorite R&B songs ft Tamia, Lil Mo, etc.

The icing on the cake was the crowd pleaser, DJ Kast One. He played all the right songs to have the whole auditorium feeling like the best party you've been to in a while. I don't know if I've ever seen MSU that live. If we can keep up the momentum, this will undoubtedly by a great year in Red Hawk Country.

Bored waiting in line lol

If looks could kill then my style might body ya

Deuces Remix (Minus the Hype)

The Deuces Remix is an undeniably good song. The melody switch in the beginning is phenom! And Drake's verse has that familiar heartthrob vibe we all love. But I think all these rave reviews a hyped. People are no longer jumping bandwagons, they are now chartering planes.
If you ask me, it could've been better. Where was Chris Brown..lost till the end? Ehhh ... And as much as i loveee Mr. Three Thou I don't think he fit well with the rest of the song. Plus where do these artists get away rapping these basic lines? Not only that, ya'll eat it up like Sunday breakfast!! 'Act like there's gum in your hair, girl cut it out' Really Fab?

But hey whatever floats your sinking boat lol.

But like I said, these are just my opinions. Take a listen for yourself:
